Founded in 1992, the Youth Marine Foundation (YMF) is committed to empowering young people through hands-on experiences on the water. By immersing students in the natural marine environment, we cultivate a deep understanding of water stewardship, environmental responsibility, and the vital role our waterways play in science, sustainability, and community. Through exploration, leadership development, and real-world learning, we inspire the next generation to become knowledgeable stewards of our waterways while gaining skills that can shape their futures.
At YMF, we believe in learning by doing. We partner with schools and educators to provide students with transformative educational opportunities aboard our 110-ft, Class A vessel, the Doolin-Rogers. Our "Floating Classroom" excursions take middle and high school students beyond traditional learning spaces, allowing them to explore the Puget Sound’s rich marine ecosystems. By engaging directly with the marine environment, students develop a deeper appreciation for science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) in real-world applications.

Meeting the Growing Demand for Maritime Professionals
As the demand for skilled professionals in the maritime industry continues to grow, there is an increasing need to introduce young people to the diverse career opportunities available on the water. In response to this need, YMF has expanded its programs in recent years to provide students with hands-on exposure to maritime careers. Through immersive training, industry mentorship, and credentialing opportunities, we help young individuals develop the skills and knowledge necessary to pursue careers in marine science, vessel operations, ship maintenance, and other maritimerelated fields. By bridging the gap between education and industry, YMF equips the next generation with the tools they need to succeed in a dynamic and essential workforce
